I have always given to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, because I think that everyone should have the opportunity to see the art inside. It's part of the cultural heritage of humanity. I consider the Met to be a very worthy recipient of my donations.
I think we both agree that those donations should also be tax-deductible (if anything is to be), but given the discussion above about the worthiness of some institutions vs. others, it's worth noting that if the threshold of worthiness is moved, institutions like the Met will likely drop off before most churches will.
Hollywood has the best moral compass, because it has compassion.
