It's incredibly overpriced. Really, the only good thing about it is the App Store; Apple keeps a relatively tight leash on what it lets though, so you can be sure the apps are of reasonable quality and don't contain spam/spyware/etc.
My recommendation is the Google Nexus 7. Much cheaper, but still very decently specced out with a nice screen. Also very simple to use, and Android 4.1 is lovely. The google play (app) store has improved dramatically.
