But Legolas is right; watching the Brits annually mope about their Wimbledon drought for years got more uncomfortable the longer it lasted.

For that matter, they still have a Wimbledon drought - yes, Murray won the Olympic gold in that very location, but he hasn't won the tournament itself yet. Though one does get the impression he'll be hard to stop next year.

Which is to say, from the days when Becker, Edberg and Lendl were in their prime until the last days of Sampras and Agassi. Each year the open pity in the voices of commentators as they referenced Britains ongoing Wimbledon drought got a little worse. So I can only hope Murray manages to get it done; I do wonder a bit how the English will feel about it if he does though. ;)
