when a country like mexico can figure out a way to provide coverage for its citizens who don't have it, it reflects poorly on the supposedly richest country in the world that people actively campaign *against* providing health insurance to everyone. mexico claims they will cover their uninsured by 2011; the US says "sorry, you'll just have to figure it out on your own".
yes, our overall care is infinitely better than theirs, but the point is that mexico is not exactly known for their financial stability and even *they* can figure out how to make it work.

We are both aware, I'm sure, of our fundamental idealogical differences here, and I sincerely doubt either of us could make the other budge, I posted because I consider your reference to be a bad one, I do not know if you knew that, and I do not want other people to look at it and think it is biblical truth.
Looking at the timestamp on your reply, I sincerely doubt you read the link, as ten minutes is an amazingly short time to get my message, read an eight page analysis not including citations, and reply. You cited that study, not I.

i have yet to see any evidence of malpractice insurance being a driving cost of health care

When the malpractice insurance can cost well over $100k a year of course it effects the costs.
