The biggest thing that springs to mind in the situation of a lonely Earth is that there would be no tides.
Yes, that's a good one. I'll have to keep that in mind.
But the situation I'm describing here is really just a stand-in for the one I have in my head, which I'm not willing to come right out and talk about. So hopefully it's sufficiently different from anything you might be plotting.
