Well, that's good. I feel like I'm working on 3 or 4 at this point. nossy Send a noteboard - 21/07/2013 05:41:21 PM

View original postThis response is more to the original post, but I know what you mean. On the one hand, the President has spoken about a trial. If you speak about one, there could be hundreds or thousands of others that deserve comment, but he didn't, and shouldn't.

I generally agree, but I still feel that he wasn't talking about the case. The only thing he said that directly relates was to the effect that he thought it was well-handled and appropriately done. Imo, he commented on the separate issue that arose from the conclusion of the trial.
On the other hand, he is the first person of color to be President. If he can't be involved in a discussion of race in our country, then who can? I think he could have been more diplomatic or less removed, but the president is a person too. I think it must be difficult for any president to be personable and be a leader at the same time. Carry on.

I think he definitely should be part of it, and I think that even though many of us won't like it, now may be the time to officially start the discussion. I want to know what he would say - we tend to forget that he isn't fully black, but we still think of him as though he is - that alone throws up warning flags to me, and makes me think he's uniquely positioned to help the sides meet up. If they let him.

Would he just shut up about it already? *pukes a little in mouth* *NM* - 20/07/2013 04:20:07 AM 326 Views
Yeah. As someone who voted for Obama and would do so again, this is embarrassing. - 20/07/2013 10:10:53 AM 678 Views
Ditto. Except I didn't vote for him a second time. - 21/07/2013 01:34:54 AM 784 Views
Does it matter now? Martin is still dead and Zimmerman will stay free. It's over. - 20/07/2013 04:24:43 AM 679 Views

I can't like your reply enough. *NM* - 20/07/2013 03:42:00 PM 340 Views
"I am not a racist I swear it" is what we are reduced for not agreeing on race - 20/07/2013 04:44:52 PM 726 Views

There are more important things for him to be focusing on, I think. That said, I think you're right. *NM* - 21/07/2013 08:16:34 AM 337 Views
There will always be something "more important." *NM* - 21/07/2013 10:25:46 AM 308 Views

I noticed the press wasn't aboard with idea when it came to Zimmerman - 24/07/2013 12:49:00 PM 665 Views
