I mean, if we want to honor our Cold War rivals, we should create a grouping of all the countries that (according to the Soviets, anyway) we controlled, right?

Given that this basically gives us NATO, I think we win in a landslide. We'd make Ronnie proud!


NATO was, by the worst & most paranoid Soviet propaganda, no more than a de facto extension of the USA, just as the Warsaw Pact was a de facto extension of the USSR. Neither...coalition...was under the de jure control of Moscow or Washington, so they don't get to be countries. Besides, the USSR did compete at the Olympics, while NATO and the Warsaw Pact never did.
