Asimov saw megalopolis in our future - and I still agree with him. Just look to how we consider the metro-NYC-PH-NJ corridor and not to mention the way of Upstate New York and it's decline under the Cuomo regimen (no, not regime). It's just a gradual process is all, it'll probably take a few hundred years yet but baring a true catastrophe' - or maybe b/c of one we'll see it come to fruition.
