when GW Bush said “For a century and a half now, America and Japan have formed one of the great and enduring alliances of modern times.”

In both cases, the intention was good and you can even sort of see what they mean, but they just overlooked the one pretty freaking monumental exception.

But indeed, can't say I'm offended exactly - and I certainly wouldn't say that for me this reflects badly on Trump, this one is all Spicer himself. The accusations of anti-semitism against Trump are really far-fetched, and people need to cool down and remember the good old maxim of not attributing to malice what can be better explained by incompetence. Which goes for Trump as well as Spicer.
