As is typical of most Americans (and probably a few Europeans) you don't know the difference.


I don't think you know what communism is and can be either. Or at least not well. So before claiming that most Americans dont know the difference, I would look in a mirror. From the dictionary,

<I> A theoretical economic system characterized by the collective ownership of property and by the organization of labor for the common advantage of all members.

For instance, I would categorize North Korea, Cuba, and the former USSR as being communist. And when I say that I mean their economic systems. For for their political situations I would use the word totalitarian.
