I hadn't thought of that stance until I was watching one episode of the West Wing when somebody suggested that the government stopped being involved with marriage. Made sense to me. Still does. I do realize that there would be problems (like protecting the rights of a spouse when it comes to medical care and such).

I make no bones about the fact that some of my opinions and beliefs seem contradictory at times. I know that. Despite the fact that a few people call me a liberal sheep, I don't always agree with the typical "liberal viewpoint" (for one, I abhor the way Affirmative Action works in this country--that has caused lots of arguements between me and my liberal friends).

That is what you were talking about right? Or did I miss something?
