the bear responds in a perfectly natural manner to his home being invaded and he's having "fun".
I understand why the steps taken were the steps taken and am at terms that they had to happen that way.
It just makes me angry that there are idiots who would put the animal in that situation. I'm angry about the idiots that climb in there for some reason NOT thinking they will be mauled, and I'm angry that for some reason the police can get to the enclosure with a gun before a zoo keeper or veterinarian can with a tranq.
And frankly, I think there are plenty of times where someone just deserves their goddamned darwin award.
PS. Also, the bear at the time of the article was still in critical care and may NOT have survived. Would I prefer the bear live over some colossal idiot who thought he'd just pop into the cage for a merry jaunt? Yes yes, I would.

Doubt it. Frangible ammunition shatters to spread out. Hollow point expands to make 1 big hole

So a situation that is "fun" for a bear but leaves a person dead is better than both surviving?

It would have been a real shame if the policeman had "missed" once.
