She was told that if goldfish were lifeless that a drop of whisky in tehir water would make them much better. She didn't drink whisky, so translated a drop as teh same amount my grandfather had in his glass each night. As the floating, lifeless bodies were taken to the cermeonial burial grounds (namely the toilet) they started twitching, alerting people to the fact they were not dead, but only drunk, so a quick change of water cured them...

History does not record what their hangovers were like...
