It IS and will remain, at least for the foreseeable future, the quintessential American meal. Around the world, ask people what "American food" means and they're likely to say "hamburger and fries" or simply "McDonald's". Why are you denying this simple truth? If you don't want burgers and fries mentioned, say "other than burgers and fries" because that's the only correct answer.
