I there is nothing wrong with questioning what a poll tells us random thoughts Send a noteboard - 28/01/2010 02:02:29 PM
All a poll really is is a piece of data and you have to figure out what that data is telling you. I agree with both you and Ghavral's assertion that this poll really tells us nothing about the quality of the news show or the accuracy of it.

I really don't even take exception to questioning the validity of a poll and the method it was conducted in. I don't put a lot of faith in the average CBS/NYT poll because I think they are incorrectly adjusting their numbers to increase the number of democrats. If you look at the internals on their polls virtually every single one of the polls are adjusted to the left to fit what they believe to be the correct makeup of the country. If you have to keep shifting your polls in the same direction there is a problem with your model. If you go to real clear politics and look at their list of polls of Obama’s approval rating the CBS/NYT polls are easy find, you just look for the highest approval numbers. By the way Fox seems to be pretty much in the middle and that piece of data may tell us more about their accuracy then the opinion poll did.

What I take exception to is simply dismissing a poll with no more apparent justification then you don't like the results and it doesn't match your version of reality.
