1. Do you like musicals? Why (not)?


Yes, it's fun to use music to explore characters true feelings

2. Do you like opera? Why (not)?


Yes but unfortunately I've only ever seen a handful.

About a year ago there was a great documentary series on Channel 4 (UK) about music styles. One episode examined Musicals and Operas and what separates one from the other (style, technique, etc.) It was very good

3. What's your favorite musical?


In terms of a Film Singin' in the Rain. It is the great MGM musical from their golden period and although the majority of the songs had been previously used I do feel they fit together beautifully here.

Honurable mentions: Meet Me in St Louis, Wizard of Oz, West Side Story, Once, Annie (come on, it's got great songs), Rocky Horror Picture Show, Dr. Horrible's Sing Along a Blog

In terms of Stage Musicals, it would be Cabaret, basically a great plot mixed with fantastic songs in a setting which makes logical sense for charactrs to start signing.

Honourable mentions: Chicago, Les Mis, Improbable Frequency, Hairspray

Honestly I haven't seen enough to truly say, but I enjoyed Carmen the most of those which I've actually seen
