1. Do you primarily read or watch?


The BBC, both read and watch.

I read The Guardian, The Daily Torygraph, The Independent, the Financial Times and Private Eye (from time to time)

I watch the news on Channel 4 and ITV from time to time.
The Daily Show as well, though it is shown on by Channel 4 here but I'm including it as seperate as that isn't the original source of it.


2. Everybody may fudge on the question, but do you think that show/site/paper/mag/etc is biased or reasonably fair?


Well the BBC gets it from all sides, so I think it balances out fairly well (viewed from a British angle, it is probably too the left of most Americans:P)
I think all the other sources I listed (Daily Show aside, of course) are reasonably fair but all have a clear slant as well (as in they report the actual news with no deliberate bias (though a right leaning news source might think differently than a left one on what actually is news) but how they interpret what they report is clearly influenced by how they lean, left or right)

3. Do you find yourself reading/watching things that fit your view, or do you try to pick other sources to make yourself read/watch something you find less pleasant (be honest!;))?


I try to make sure to look for the contrary view, I might well disagree with it but it is always a good idea to actually know what you disagree with. Saves making yourself look silly by battling straw men.

4. Other than read and find out, do you contribute comments to websites (having to do with news, political debates, etc- not exactly talking youtube here)?


Not really.

5. Do you typically read the comments, regardless of whether you participate? While we're on the subject, can you name a site where one can generally find semi-reasonable comments?


The Guardian is pretty good for comments - they tend towards the rational, informed and intelligent. Tends to pick up views from most angles as well so it gives a balance to the articles (well, blogs really as they only have comments on the opinions, not news).
The Torygraph has moments of lucidity but also moments of brain dead ranters/ paranoids (The Guardian gets the latter as well but they are more rare)
