If I don't get up to let the chickens out of the coop, they'll crow until I do.

it seems like they crowed just as often once they get let out :P

Is it cold where you are?

the worst was having to thaw their water container in the winter.

well, we can have some cold here, but I'm in Western Washington so the weather doesn't get too bad. We did have some freezing weather for about a week or 2 straight in December and it was an annoyance to try to keep fresh water for them. In the summer, I have to do the opposite, though, if it gets up near 100, which it does sometimes.

Mine crow once I let them out also, but mostly while I'm doing all the feeding and watering and such. Then after that, it's just whenever something happens like someone drives up or something...
