I'd go there because it's so different to everything I know. Also, Anne of Green Gables, just because I love her.

I would say The Sunne in Splendour but it was a very scary plaguey time to live in, despite the fascination and men with tight pants and swords :D

EDIT: Also, Last of the Mohicans-world. That or the just-pre-Revolutionary time in Carolina in Diana Gabaldon's books.

I love the Last of the Mohicans movie. Not so much Cooper's writing. If this goes the way I'm seeing it, you have to deal with the way the characters are written and be stuck in their little area. That might be difficult.
