As far as combat goes, I am not sure a lot of women could point a rifle at another person's head, pull the trigger, and then watch said person's head explode. Granted, some women have definitely been in combat in a sense by "accident" due to be being in convoys and so on, but I imagine that being set up in an ambush and watching your enemy walk into sight and the cutting them down is somewhat different psychologically. You can read all about PTSD and how it is affecting many of the men who are coming back from war. Is this what we want as a nation to subject our women soldiers too? I guess that is for everyone to decide for his or herself but I am not sure my answer is yes.

There are also other concerns that don't exist on a sub that do in an infantry setting. Issues of the strength needed to carry wounded, move heavy mechanical items, and the strength and endurance needed to carry heavy weight for long distances. There is also the issue of how other armies would be willing to work with female soldiers. Do you really think groups like the Iraqi National Army or the Afghan National Army will be willing to take orders from female soldiers? I highly doubt it. I don't see those problems in a setting like a sub but they are real issues in terms of combat infantry.
