She didn't actually reveal anything that wasn't already in the public domain, so far as I'm aware. So I tend to take her sacking at face value.

And you could argue that maintaining a system that makes corruption impossible to detect is itself corrupt, even if nothing else improper happens.


I think incompetent is a better fitting word. The way corrupt is used tends to imply a gain is being made while there is nothing here to suggest that.
In addition, there are attempts on going to try and sort it out - there is still work being done to try and tidy up the previous years' accounts... which is a pain in the neck given a big chunk of EU funding goes through the government department I work in. A lot of the problem is that in the past the checks weren't up to standard which they now are.
