I don't know if it would the specifics but if looks like a step down on your resume it will hurt you. People moving backwards in their careers is one of the things we used to look for when we were reviewing resume. When you 10 times as many resumes as you need you look for any reason to toss them.



Especially considering it is only a "slight" step down. Should be easy enough to at least make seem like a lateral move. And since the geographical location will be different, it would be less likely to seem out of place or be an automatic disqualifier.
