did you major in revisionist history? random thoughts Send a noteboard - 25/02/2010 07:22:06 PM
The extra revenue form the tech bubble is brought the budget to a very unstable balance. The bubble was already collapsing when Clinton handed over the keys. The republicans actually forced a government shutdown trying to get Clinton to cut the budget more and it was republicans not democrats who passed the welfare reform act. Clinton did sign it but he vetoed it first even if does go around taking credit for it now.

If you are by no means a dem then what are you because I must say you seem to be pretty far to the left to me.

when your own positions come from right-wing extremism, i can understand why you think so many people are so far left. but whether or not i am "far to the left" doesn't mean i am automatically a democrat just because you don't like my political positions.

where do you get off calling me a right wing extrmist? You are simply a far left fruiotcake sorry but that is really just the facts. Would like to point out any of my right wing extrmist views are do you throw that at anyone who isn't a socialist?

as to the government shutdown, newt gingrich admitted that it was basically done because clinton wouldn't let him sit in the front of air force one. i've always thought the welfare reform act was one of the things that completely incensed republicans because clinton took credit for one of their core causes, and for you to bring it up here when it has no meaning to what i had said earlier just reinforces that point for me.

Now you are simply sputing left wing babble. Newt did say he was pissed at Clinton for the slight and the left altched onto that but if you really belive that was simnply about a personal slight then you are dumber then I thought.

The welfare reform was part of balancing the budget.

but, back to my original point: clinton balanced the federal budget under his presidency. bill clinton, a democrat, created a budget that not only balanced the federal spending provisions, but also brought surpluses for two straight years, tech bubble or no. i understand that, as a republican, you have to blame the dems for everything you think is wrong with washington, but in reality they are both not even close to what they supposedly stand for.

Really that is all you have? Clinton was president when the tech bubble happened so what? I undertstand that as a far left looney you have trouble understand some concepts but taking credit for a balanced budget when it balanced by an increase in revenue, an increase you had no part in, is bit BS to people who are actaully look at it from a rational point of view.
