They just see it as the truth. Which isn't surprising since it was written to fit their world view.
I am not sure how much it hurt the tea party to have a few of their early members say they were going to tea bag Obama. It got them national attention and now it makes their critics look like giggling school boys because they can't leave the joke alone. Palin has the same affect, they simply can't resist following everything she says and bring her up in every discussion. They can't resist shooting down at the easy target. If the left wants to keep it majority past the next election it really needs to grow beyond such things and learn to deal with issues. Then I do think the left was happier in the minority and I think it better matches their leadership style.
Look at the health care debate. Republicans were out there saying what they liked and didn't like about it while democrats were arguing with Sarah Palin about death panels insulting and demeaning grassroots protest movements.
That's where she was when she was using Cuffs Notes, you may recall; the link said something along the lines of "these are Sarahs people!" and was highly praising of both them and her. If they don't want to be associated with her, maybe they shouldn't associate with her (just a thought.
)
)Not sure which post you are referring to. All I see around here are attack post about her. If we are going to start requiring parties to disassociate themselves from politicians who are not all that bright we should with the buffoon who actually ended up as the VP.
It was something a rather conservative friend linked on Facebook, not something here. I didn't say dissociate, I said they shouldn't associate with someone with whom they don't want to be associated. Biden's done some cringeworthy things, but he's had his good moments, too (like pointing out to all the Republicans who said, "if Iraq intel was so bad, why didn't Intelligence Committee members tell the rest of Congress?" that it would've been a treasonous violation of their oaths if they had. ) If they're going to call themselves "Sarahs people" that's probably how most will see them; if you don't like that, you're problem isn't with me, it's with the people claiming her, or reality.
I don't recall many Republicans saying anything they liked about the House or Senate healthcare bills apart from the occasional nod to state insurance exchanges. Perhaps you can point out where Republicans reference something they like about the current bill in their unified calls to completely scrap it prior to "negotiations. " That's a FINE prescription for bipartisan compromise: "Throw out everything you want, then we'll talk. " The Yasser Arafat School of Diplomacy, I believe.
Just off the top of my head republicans were in favor of stopping or limiting what insurance companies could deny because of preexisting condition.
Maybe if democrats want to bring republicans in they should do it while they are creating a plan and not just have silly dog and pony show after to give the appearance they were looking for input.

EDIT: Stupid contractions....

' />I don't recall any Republicans saying they wanted to stop bans on preexisting conditions, but I could've missed it. Which of them was saying that? Though they weren't the only ones saying it, and "me, too" isn't a proposal. The only Republican proposal I do recall hearing about was a rider to prevent any public option from using cost/benefit analysis (Palins "death panels" ) and GUARANTEEING private insurers could CONTINUE using the decades old practice in perpetuity. So it seems they weren't so much upset by "death panels" as about who used them.
As to the rest, I see no problem with a public discussion of the issue. And IIRC neither do Republicans, provided they can snipe from the sidelines without having to actually contribute anything. Why they thought even someone as inept as Obama would let them nail his foot to the floor while they committed to nothing I have no idea.
