*Apartment, technically.
1. As probably everyone in the universe knows by now, I procured a very wonderful and adorable puppy last summer. Despite his adorableness, though, he is a dog, not an angel. He's had a few dietary indiscretions, such as walls. And floors.
There are only a couple spots, but they are noticeable: places where he started chewing/scratching and managed to get through the paint and even make a slight dent in the wood. One place on the floor is particularly concave (about a centimeter deep and maybe two inches across).
Problem is, I'm a renter, and I reallly don't want to lose my security deposit when I move out in August! Yeah, that's a long time from now, but I would prefer to fix things well in advance.
I think for the walls I'll probably be okay if I sand them and then paint over, but what about the floor? Sanding might make it less noticeable, but there's still the color issue. The walls are plain white; the floor is a weird ugly brown color (painted wood planks). I don't know how I would get a shade to match. Maybe I could just paint all of it...? I've even thought about putting some carpet down in this area of the apartment, but I dunno how much that would cost me, or if the landlord would be happy with it. (The area is maybe 5x10.)
2. As maybe slightly fewer people know, Jen's kitties have also been living with me for a while. They're pretty good boarders, but my boyfriend is allergic to them. Like, severely allergic. He hasn't been able to come around my place since they settled in. Their lease is up in about a week, but many of the allergens will remain. What is the best way to clean in order to make it as breathable and non-allergenic as I possibly can?
Thank you <3
