It's still a home since you live in it :| It's just not a "house" ;)

True, I guess :P

Sanding and touching up the paint on the walls will probably work fine. For the floor, you can maybe fill it with some wood filler and then paint over it. Assuming you can't take a sample to the paint store to have them match it, get a couple of paint chips and lay them on the floor to get the closest match (you can even do tiny samples of actual paint now to test them out). Worst case scenario, yes, you can absolutely just repaint the whole thing and if it's close enough in color the landlord probably won't even notice.

*nods* I actually have some wood putty laying around, so that could work.
Re: the paint color: it's quite ugly, really, so if I do repaint all of it, I would probably go for something completely different. :P I don't think they would mind, since they actually painted some walls in a color of my choice last summer (they needed repainting anyway, but they let me choose a pretty blue instead of just white). Will run it by them first, of course. But it could be a good project to do right after the cats leave, because it might be another way of reducing allergens.

Well I've never dealt with this issue myself, but I seem to remember that Macharius had kitties and an allergic SO...maybe he can give you some advice.

That's a good point... I hope so.

I would say you should wash with water and bleach any areas where it's safe to do so...walls, floors, etc. Launder or dry clean any fabrics you can, and vacuum the hell out of those you can't. If just getting all the hair and dander up isn't sufficient you can try one of those powder cleaning products that you sprinkle on and vacuum up.

*nods* Good suggestions, thanks :)
