Yes, fingerprint records are kept only for criminals, but...

There are certain jobs (including virtually all the ones I've worked) where I had to be fingerprinted and had to have the state (TN and FL) versions of the FBI do thorough background checks because of the sensitive nature of the jobs I've done. Sadly, lots of pedophiles want to work in teaching and/or residential treatment centers
But no, no records of my prints are kept after the checks are completed, due to privacy laws. Now if I were ever to be arrested, yes, I would have prints on file that would be added to the state and national databases, but not until then. Of course, I've been fingerprinted dozens of times over the years, so isn't it rather sad that I know that could have had a more solid record than most any master criminal?

Don't forget all tourists... if one considers those separately from the criminals category, anyway. *NM*
