The anti-blasphemy laws have been misused and abused in Pakistan before. And yes, it is frustrating that it seems like many "citizen Pakistanis" in this case seem to take no notice or express no fury at such nonsense as this. Sometimes there are explanations and sometimes there are no real justifications. I hope for this couple though that the district being made to look like idiots in the press worldwide will feel such shame at this unjust action that their conviction will be overturned or pardoned and they will be freed. I also suspect the higher courts in Pakistan will throw the conviction out.
But wine was the great assassin of both tradition and propriety...
