I think the news of his capture was prematurely leaked by Pakistanis. The US has an interest in keeping the capture secret for at least a week or so to try to catch the people Gadahn was in direct contact with - and that might include Zawahiri.
I've heard it's him, not him, and 'some other american', and I suppose those all all good things but hopefully it is him. I suspect though, that if it were him, and with the cat out of it's proverbial bag, it would have been announced officially by now, and hoped for Op revolving around keeping his capture secret is pretty much futile now.
