I certainly hope so, although by and large I tend to think we could just have cops at the schools, and they usually have their own weapons



Well, the US fondness for firearms revolves around the importance of keeping out the hated British, who have long sought to re-establish their tyrannical rule over us, combined with our very reasonable fear of super-fertile deer overrunning the country if their numbers aren't regular culled, a serious problem in our car-dominated culture where deer suicide attacks on vehicles murder many hundreds of motorists a year as is. Your average deer lives in the wilderness very much like the Unabomber, foregoing technology in favor of their anarchist and Luddite ideology.

If we didn't have our gun culture the King of England could just start pushing us around while fundamentalist creatures seek to madly disrupt our economy by literally standing in the way of vehicles, regardless of their purpose, be it an ambulance or even a schoolbus full of innocent children. Guns are a necessity to protect us from these very real threats.
