Using written stuff as a proof for or against how people say things doesn't usually work because "rules" are more stringent in written English than spoken.


I was using it as proof that Palatine's an before history rule isn't an actual rule in American English, which I think it worked perfectly for. I wasn't trying to rule out the possibility that some people might still say it as "An history".
