even a full skeleton would not place them in a phylogenetic tree. Ancestry is determined by genetics, not appearance. Otherwise people would correctly assume hyenas were Canids and Koalas actually were bears. They won't get some magically more detailed dna from finding the skull.


Honestly, with the exception of this conversation I've never really thought about it too much nor does it really bother me that I don't know.

I suppose more of the same would work for me. i.e. if they found another set of similar bones from a different person(I use person loosely) or two. One sample is a little small, it could be just an anomoly, at least that's the way my linear accountants mind works
