Yes but this is something spread by the UN or unicef, rather. What better way to villify the US than to say we're horrible to our children? We all beat our kids and treat our pets like Michael Vick.

but if you're referring to that famous Convention of the Rights of the Child which the US and Somalia are the only two countries not to have ratified, I thought the American objections had more to do with the passages about the economic rights of children.

Of course you could be referring to something else I'm not aware of, so please clarify if so.
