he's rather rude and smug about it. Congrats dude. You have enough of a lack of life that you play WoW enough they decided to give you a beta key despite your lack of skill and player worth. wow. (Our guild leadership set up is pretty much not based on leadership skill. he just has it because our old guild leader was viewed as "too lax" and he's one of the founders)
So far as I can tell, beta access is determined by prior beta experience and how good your computer is.
So anyone here lucky enough to get a Beta invite for Cataclysm? *NM*

To be fair, at such a late beta stage, it's not "buggy." They're mainly tweaking balance issues. *NM*
