I'd actually considered getting a 4850 or 4870 (4890s weren't generally available), but wanted something that would run at a lower temp and use less power while being a newer architecture.
Dalaran's a problem only in rendering so many characters at once. It was a problem in TBC as well, since both expansions made a neutral city for the new continent and your entire server population ends up there to nuke your graphics card.
Thankfully, Cataclysm will get away from that annoying trend.
I don't have ME2, but I'll take your word for it that DA will make my 5770 its bitch.
On Wow my HD4890 I have never seen the card dip below 60fps as long as I keep everything on Ultra besides the Shadows (and I game at 1920x1080 which is a higher res than yours.) I expect the same to happen with your HD5770. (Can't speak of Dalaran yet for I haven't got that far).

Dragon Age your card will eat like butter, a better video card will not improve it at all, that said a quad core would help since DA is one of the few games which likes quad cores. You should be getting a similar frame rate as Mass Effect 2.

In need of graphics card advice. (edit with update)

A 9800GT is roughly equivalent to a 5670. *NM*

Your card isn't an ati hd5670, it is about 75% as fast as an 8800gt

ATI Mobility HD5730 is almost the same as the desktop ATI HD5670 but it is closer to ATI HD5570

One thing you didn't mention is what resolution you're trying to run at.

Glad to hear it's working. That kind of performance is much more what I'd expect from a 5670.

That didn't stop me from getting the 5770 so that I would have a "buffer zone" of peformance gains

The HD5670 is meant to be a casual gamer card

Nice to know that someone selling these actually knows what they're talking about.
