Sad to say, I didn't entirely understand how to use quickenings then, so summons were slightly more useful to me then than a shot to the head. :P

Once I figured that out though, they did become pretty much worthless. But imo that has always been the case with Final Fantasy games. Only in FFX did they have any function, and even then a properly leveled party of three would be better than any single summon.
