Unless you must play high-end games on the go, consider a laptop + desktop combo.

Cheap laptop for everything but gaming. Web browsing, office software, communication, etc. Desktop computer for gaming and whatever else you want. This will save you a lot of money. You can buy a new laptop that will do everything except high-end games for 500-600 USD. You can buy a desktop that will play every game on the highest settings in 1080p at 60fps for 700-800 USD.
In my opinion, spending $2200 for a computer (unless prices are far higher in your neck of the woods) is completely unnecessary. Unless you plan to do something unusual (three screen monitor-spanning gaming, for example), buying better parts doesn't do you any good. 90fps looks the same as 60fps. I'm not saying this is you, but a lot of people these days have the mindset of, "I want to buy the best computer I can afford," when they should really be syaing, "I want to buy a computer that will meet my specific set of requirements."
Anyway, if you have good reasons for wanting a gaming laptop, that's well and good, and I'm not asking you to defend your position.
I just thought I'd point out the laptop + desktop option in case you hadn't considered that before.

The G74 looked promising. Only thing I didn't like was the clockspeed of the processor. *NM*

I got the G74. So far, it looks to be quite a beast.
I'm going to go pick Skyrim up later today. *NM*
