There is some good stuff out there, and brilliant if you are prepared to go old-school.

Good Old Games just re-released ANACHRONOX which is one of the greatest CRPGs ever made (MASS EFFECT started looking like it might displace it, but the ending took care of that). The graphics are shoddy these days, but the gameplay is brilliant and some of the ideas are solid gold (like your mouse pointer being an in-game arrow-shaped robot with its own backstory). Plus you have a shrinked planet and its 2 billion inhabitants as a party companion.
Otherwise KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC is excellent, and now once again the best SF RPG BioWare has ever made (again, MASS EFFECT looked like it might displace it before it threw it all away). It's end-game 'twist' actually makes sense, is masterfully foreshadowed and works brilliantly.
If you have a gamepad or joystick, FREESPACE 2 is also worth a look (especially since the source code has been released and its available legally for free). Before the Reapers, the Shivans were the most terrifyingly engimatic, faceless alien race in SF gaming and - aha! - are now back in that place once again. No ten-minute exposition scene from a glowing kid here. They just come in, kill everything (sometimes themselves as well), do some crazy weird stuff and vanish.
For strategy, the GROUND CONTROL games and HOSTILE WATERS are excellent SF (the latter even has a former DOCTOR WHO, Tom Baker, narrating it) and great games overall.

The ending was extremely terrible considering the rest of the game.

It is possible to reconcile the Quarians and Geth. They end up sharing Rannoch. *NM*

I hope indoctrination ia the case and we get dlc. The ending(s) was a serious dissapointment. *NM*

Yeah. I had an immediate, powerful, and visceral dislike of the ending.
