ME2 let you tell it the decisions you made in ME1 if you didn't have a save. Did you save Kaiden or Ashley, etc. I'm sure there were some differences but I don't remember any giant plot points that were changed by not having a save. ME3 started off by asking me the same sorts of questsions, so I figured I was good. Nope. Oh well.
