On a forum that I frequent, any complaints about the lack of offline option are met with those arguments. They say that people saying that are fundamentally misunderstanding the way Blizzard designed the game to be played. The fact that both prior entries in the series had offline play, combined with the fact that the game has absolutely no need of online allies to complete, falls on deaf ears. I suspect it's because they're the people who love to play the same game over and over on harder difficulties. To me, that's a major grindy snore-fest.

I'd compare D3's gameplay to Borderlands, in a way. BL could be played solo, but it was a fairly bland experience. BL was best played with friends, and I expect the same of what I've played of D3's trial version. That being said, there's absolutely no reason why D3 *has to be* online... and that's their argument. It was designed that way, and saying otherwise is not "getting it" and criticizing a game for something it was never intended to be.

They also resist any notion that Blizzard should've considered adding a WASD control scheme. I think it would be neat, because Blizzard's click-fests eventually make my wrist sore. They're literally the only games that cause that.
The sword might be grateful to the forge fire, but never fond of it.
they live in this place, both the d3 and gaming news threads
