Big-picture mode and full controller support means you can probably play all of your PC Steam titles right on your big screen. Buying a new graphics card is cheaper than buying any of the next-gen consoles.

I don't want a media hub, I want a gaming system. And I certainly don't want an uppity system that will go into a conniption if I can't connect to the internet.

I hear ya. Personally, though, I have a bigger conniption than my Xbox ever could if I can't connect to the internet.
