I didn't enjoy it at first either. My experience is like Aemon's. I even started winning without fully upgrading or drafting in a lot of the best players. I came up with 8 or 9 strategies that could work based on different opponents, styles, formations, and finishing moves. I played a strategy game, and I found it to be a lot of fun. I played a few 'seasons' while ignoring the full game for long periods of time.
