In this analogy, the car makers (Toyota and Honda) are the game developers, and the kind of vehicle (sedan, truck) are the genres.
Says who? That's now how I was looking at it, and certainly not the only way.
The way I see it, there are more "sedans" than there are "Toyota vehicles." Sedan is the more broad of cateogries. In the same way, genre narrows the list more than console. It does within the same generation, anyway. Are there more "360 games" than there are "all puzzles games of all generations?" Not sure. That might be a valid point, but still, we primarily talk about current stuff. If you say "PC games" you're including a much broader swath of games than if you specify "racing games."

I think Other Games would be a pretty simple and effective catch-all.

Why?

Because the genre of a game is more relevant to it's content than the system it runs on.

True, but you have to consider what topic relevance is used for.

I see what you're saying, but that's a pretty convoluted way to make an analogy. :p *NM*
