That's both a pro and con of the game, IMO. It makes the scares more jarring, but eventually predictable. In my mind, once you can calculate or expect events, they're no longer scary. (you just grin & bear it at that point) The game did manage to have a few "OH CRAP" moments though, and a few of them were in the silence of zero gravity.

Throwing buddies around in NSMBW is fun, but I'm thankful for the 'bubble' feature. Without that, 4-player mode would go from ridiculous to frustrating. Unfortunately, the game's suffered the fate of nearly ever Wii game I own... Gamer ADD. I get excited, play it for a few days, then go back to the regularly scheduled PC gaming. (L4D2 and Borderlands with friends, etc)
