Let's say there is a board game where you build stuff and in the end people get awarded with points for how much they built of a certain building type.
Rules say: if two people share a rank (because they built the same amount) they get half the points, rounded down.
Rules also say that the player that comes in second in the ranking for a certain building type gets 1 point. Now two players share that rank, how much do they get? 1 divided by two would be 0.5, rounded down Zero? Or would you say 1 point always remains 1 point either way (like me)?
Also: if there are three players playing and the first two share the first rank, does the third player get the points connected with rank two or three? If the first rank gets 20 points and the second 12, but two players share rank 1 (both 10 points) the third player would get more points then them, which doesn't sound fair to me. He should get awarded with the points for rank 3, because two people were ahead of him, even though they shared a rank. Right?

as long as there is no three way splits, half a points should be easy enough to remember.
