I agree with your assessment. Technically it's very well done and the visuals are dreamlike and awesome. Which is cool because much of the book is that way. But yes, it's developing much too slowly. I think that's due to the filler they are including to justify multiple seasons based on one book.

I liked the book; it had better flow.
