I love that I can follow sources I don't necessarily like, or sites I wouldn't go to. This way, I can quickly scan past something that I don't want to read, but I still have access to the things that I want to/should read.
But let me make an argument against, even though I agree.
How would the experience be any different if this was just an RSS feed where person than links to other websites. RSS feeds are how podcasts works but you can use them for other things than automatic download of music / radio / podcast.
What I am saying is Twitter's has value as a news aggregator, but there are other tools that are just as good as news aggregators such as RSS feeds and so on. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/News_aggregator

What I am saying it is kind of a tradition and it is not because it is inherently better, it is just an arbitrary thing that became popular vs another news aggregator.
Kind of like how in the US, engine steering wheels are on the left side, but in the UK the driver's steering wheel is on the right side.
