View original postI also got the impression that the books in this series were not written in any sort of regular pace, and that it might have got away from King later on. Is that true, or is it worth it to get through?
I only ever read (part of?) one book in it, and that a long time ago, I don't recall much more than a few images. But I believe you're right - the first three or four books were written a long time before the later ones, as I recall, and were more straightforward.
So I don't really have anything to add on this, but will be interested to see what others say.
Any opinions on Stephen King's Dark Tower series?

The first half, books 1-4 are very good. Book 4 is one of my all time faves

I thought The Gunslinger and Wizard and Glass were the best of the 7 original books.
