Was King a better writer when he was on coke?

Or maybe it's the other way around?
I read a lot of his early-middle career stuff and liked most of it, but the last book of his that I read & liked was Needful Things. Or maybe Misery? Read both, liked both, don't remember which was most recent. Then I read Gerald's Game and the synopsis for Delores Claiborn and stopped reading King.
Never read any Dark Tower
Hollywood has the best moral compass, because it has compassion.
Any opinions on Stephen King's Dark Tower series?

The first half, books 1-4 are very good. Book 4 is one of my all time faves

I thought The Gunslinger and Wizard and Glass were the best of the 7 original books.
