But, that's mostly because my political philosophy seems to be half of one and half of the other. My experience with most moderates/centrists is that they hop on one idea or the other because it sounds good, but doesn't necessarily lead to good policy. Usually, chopping the baby in half just kills the fucking baby. Still, I'll take moderates/centrists over hard leftists or rightists for the most part.

My own hope, and semi-belief, if that we are indeed in the messy middle of a major political realignment between the statists (both left and right) and the anti-statists. Clearly, I'm of the latter camp. I think many young people, once they experience "real life", will gravitate towards that side, too. It certainly is more in keeping with their avowed desire for greater choice and individual freedom. It takes a while, though. Ghavrel's own comments above seem to bolster that idea. The real world seems to be stripping at least some of those blinders from him that the statist educational establishment hoped to permanently affix.
